FOR IMPROVED CONTROL OF SULFATE REDUCING BACTERIA
BMF-BAC 5™ is a liquid nutrient and inhibitor formulation for the control of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB). SRBs are the principal agents of microbial mediated corrosion as a result of their ability to induce cathodic polarization and produced hydrogen sulfide. Sulfate reducing bacteria utilize sulfate (and occasionally other sulfur compounds) in oil field water to produce hydrogen sulfide, a well-known toxic corrosive gas. BMF-BAC 5™ is an improved version of BMF-BAC 4™ and acts as an inhibitor of SRB metabolism and as an inhibitor of biofilm formation. Biofilms are the usual habitat of SRBs and by disrupting their formation, the growth of SRBs is reduced. BMF-BAC 5™ is compatible with other Micro-Bac International, Inc.® products, unlike conventional biocides. Resistance has rarely been observed in any application.

APPLICATION
BMF-BAC 5™ is usually used in a three phase process for the control of SRB’s in oil and gas wells. A highly effective biocide is first applied and followed by BMF-BAC 5™. This accomplishes a maximum kill and inhibition of the SRB population. After the SRB, a treatment of Para-Bac® products is applied to compete with and replace any residual SRB population and provide paraffin or scale control as needed. By using this multiagent system, SRB control is greatly improved over conventional biocide systems. BMF-BAC 5™ can also be used to treat surface vessels and ponds for SRB produced sulfide.
Pre-Treatment Testing
The best product performance and economies can be obtained when the pre-treatment well data is complete and accurate. Pre-treatment well data forms, test request forms and information, plus information on shipping samples for treatability testing are available from Micro-Bac, International, Inc.®. Determination that the nature of the H2S problem is caused by SRBs is essential for successful product use.
Handling and Safety
BMF-BAC 5™ meets EPA requirements for release into the environment. Special clothing or equipment is not required for handling BMF-BAC 5™. Routine hygiene should be observed.
Shipping
BMF-BAC 5™ is shipped in 5 gallon containers (45 lbs), 55 gallon containers (495 lbs) or 330 gallon totes (2970 lbs).
